SOFTWARE MODERNISATION

Improve existing software through planned change

Older software may become difficult to maintain, slow to change or incompatible with current requirements.

OVERVIEW

We help clients assess an existing application and plan proportionate improvements.

Modernisation does not always require a complete rebuild. Depending on the system, the appropriate approach may be to update specific components, improve the interface, replace a defined function, restructure parts of the codebase or migrate to a new application in stages.

SOFTWARE MODERNISATION

Areas we can assess

  • application structure and maintainability;
  • outdated frameworks or dependencies;
  • performance constraints;
  • user-interface limitations;
  • data flows and integration points;
  • deployment and release processes;
  • documented defects and operational risks; and
  • options for phased replacement.
SOFTWARE MODERNISATION

Improve what works, replace what holds you back

Modernisation does not always require a complete rebuild. Changes are planned, phased and agreed.

SOFTWARE MODERNISATION

Assessment before commitment

Existing software can contain undocumented dependencies and constraints. We therefore normally begin with a paid technical assessment where the condition or scope is not yet clear. The findings inform the recommended work, assumptions, priorities and estimate.

SOFTWARE MODERNISATION

Commercial model

The initial assessment is charged as a defined work package or on agreed time-based rates. Implementation is then priced by phase, milestone, fixed scope or development time. Any data migration, third-party replacement cost or continuing dual-system operation is identified separately.
